Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s MLK Day Build Returns to Century II
WICHITA, KS (January 6, 2026)— Wichita Habitat for Humanity invites the community to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of service by participating in the annual MLK Day of Service Build on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.
Embracing Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community,” more than 150 volunteers will gather inside the Bob Brown Expo Hall at Century II Performing Arts & Convention Center to frame the walls for safe, affordable housing. In the span of a single morning, community members will construct and stand all interior and exterior walls for two three-bedroom homes that will become safe, affordable housing for families in our community.

“After a one-year hiatus, we are excited to return to this annual tradition of service that honors Dr. King’s legacy. This is a fantastic opportunity to gather your team for a fun and rewarding experience that directly helps families build a brighter future,” said Danielle Johnson, executive director of Wichita Habitat for Humanity. “We are bringing the build site indoors to ensure our volunteers can work comfortably while making a tangible impact.”
Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome, as all necessary tools and guidance are provided on-site. This is a family-friendly service opportunity open to volunteers ages 10 and up.
