Privacy Policy

This policy has been updated on and is effective as of May 14, 2026.

I. Introduction

Wichita Habitat for Humanity respects your privacy and preferences. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with our website, make a donation, or visit our eStore. Thank you for supporting the building and critical repair of homes in partnership with families in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing. Your generosity is helping transform lives in Sedgwick County.

II. Guiding Principles & Donor Confidentiality

We hold all donor information in strict confidence. We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise offer donor information to other organizations. We have procedures in place to limit access to your information to only those employees and volunteers who need to know it to fulfill our mission. We contractually require any person or organization providing services to Wichita Habitat for Humanity to protect the confidentiality of donor information.
We will use our best efforts to comply with the expressed wishes of any donor who does not want their name used in promotional material, wishes their name removed from mailing lists, or wishes to remain anonymous.

III. Information We Collect and How We Use It

The type of data we collect depends on how you interact with our organization:
  • Website Visitors: We directly collect or use third-party analytics tools to gather non-personally identifying information. This includes domain names, IP addresses, browser types, and visit timestamps to measure traffic and improve our site.
  • Donors: When you make a donation, we ask for your name, billing address, and contact details. We use a secure third-party banking agent to process payments. We never retain your full payment card information.
  • Shoppers and Event Attendees: When you purchase from us, we ask for your name, shipping and billing address, email, and phone number to fulfill your order, estimate taxes and shipping, and process refunds if necessary. If you create, submit, or register for an event, we store relevant venue, organizer, and ticket information.
  • Direct Communications: If you email us or fill out a web form, we collect the information you voluntarily provide to respond to your request.

IV. Sensitive Personal Data

We do not collect sensitive personal data (e.g., health or dietary information) unless there is a clear reason for doing so, such as your participation in a sponsored physical event. This ensures we provide appropriate facilities or support. All sensitive data is stored on a password-protected system with limited staff access, is never shared with third parties, and is deleted when no longer needed.

V. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to improve your experience, keep track of eStore cart contents while you browse, and save your screen display choices.
Wichita Habitat for Humanity also advertises across the Internet. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your past visits to our website. You can opt out of these cookies by visiting Google's Ads Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

VI. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We use trusted third-party tools to operate our site and accept payments securely.
  • Payment Processors: We accept payments and donations through Blackbaud, PayPal, Stripe, and Lightspeed (Ecwid). When you process a transaction, necessary data required to support the payment is passed to these services.
  • Website Integrations: We utilize API keys for services like Google Maps, MeetUp, Eventbrite, and WordPress to provide specific website features.
  • Partner Organizations: With your consent, we may disclose personal information to financial service providers for loan underwriting services, or to other nonprofit organizations involved in community development for program review, auditing, and referrals.

VII. Data Retention and Security

We store your information only for as long as needed for the purposes collected or as legally required. For example, order information is stored for seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes. Payment processing is handled via a high-grade secured socket layer connection (TLS 1.2 using SHA-256 encryption) to verify your financial information.

VIII. Your Rights and Opting Out

If you have an account on this website or have provided personal data, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase your personal data, excluding any data we are legally obliged to keep for administrative or security purposes.
Donors and volunteers may opt out of receiving emails from us at any time by using the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of our emails.

IX. Non-proselytizing Policy

Habitat for Humanity International, Inc. and its affiliated organizations will not proselytize. We will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
