It is hard to believe that it has been four years since the ReStore team opened a crate and found a Mahi Mahi with a heart-shaped Post-it® note attached that read, “Save Bill.” As many know, the team did indeed save Bill! The staff had no idea at the time how many adventures Bill would have or how many changes at ReStore would happen under his watchful eye.
The ReStore team started out by putting Bill in a place of honor in the store. Countless people wanted to purchase him, but the staff knew he belonged at the ReStore. Before long, Bill’s perch overlooked Bill’s Book Nook. This section has grown from five donated shelves against the wall to about triple the space and now includes other media, including movies, music, puzzles, and games.
As ReStore’s unofficial mascot, Bill’s biggest job is to entertain shoppers and the team alike as they highlight special deals and featured items each week. Bill gets up to all sorts of hijinks fulfilling this role, and the crew never knows what he might do next!
As his fourth birthday approaches on October 25th, the ReStore team has given Bill one more role. Ever the overachiever, Bill can now answer questions about ReStore at wichitahabitat.org/restore. He can share donation hours, explain how to schedule a donation, answer questions about eStore items, and talk about the mission of Wichita Habitat for Humanity. If Bill does not know the answer, he will provide the phone number or email address of the team member who does.
To celebrate the occasion, shop in-person for two days only (October 23 and 24) to save 30% off donated items. In addition, customers will receive a free box of Universal Light Clips with their purchase (while supplies last) just in time for the holidays! Please see a ReStore associate for details. This offer is only valid at the Wichita Habitat ReStore and is not valid on eStore items, with the sole exception of the Yousky Cordless Handheld Pool Vacuum.
Shop ReStore Wichita today at 601 N. West St. from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., or online at wichitahabitat.org/shop.
