Wichita Habitat for Humanity has become aware of an apparent online scam targeting individuals on social media platforms.

Several Wichita residents have contacted our staff seeking to verify online advertisements from unauthorized accounts claiming to be associated with Habitat for Humanity and promoting deceptive offers. These promotions are not from Wichita Habitat for Humanity, or anyone affiliated with our organization or our parent organization, Habitat for Humanity International. Do not interact with these accounts or engage with any unrealistic deals they may be promoting. Report and block them immediately.

Habitat affiliates around the country have recently noted similar scam attempts and as an organization, we want to ensure our community remains safe from these malicious attempts and does not fall victim to these misleading schemes.

All official advertisements running on any social media platform will come from our official Wichita Habitat for Humanity and Wichita Habitat ReStore (ReStore Wichita) social media accounts. Other official correspondence from Wichita Habitat for Humanity, including information about our services, volunteer opportunities, newsletters, and fundraising appeals, will come from our official website: wichitahabitat.org. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of any communication, please visit our website directly.

This scam has not affected the security of our organization’s website or our data.
