Wichita Habitat holds wall raising celebration for Air Capital Build with local aviation partners

WICHITA, KS (Apr. 8, 2024)— Wichita Habitat for Humanity celebrated a major milestone on Tuesday, April 2nd, with a wall raising celebration for the Air Capital Build campaign. This ambitious project brings together Wichita’s leading aviation and aerospace companies to support the construction of three new homes for local families who are ready for homeownership.

Building a Brighter Future for Wichita Families

The Air Capital Build unites companies like Textron Aviation, Spirit AeroSystems, Leading Technology Composites, Inc. (LTC), and other valued corporate partners and organizations. This collaborative effort allows future homeowners, referred to as “family partners,” to work alongside volunteers from these sponsor companies to build their own homes. The sweat equity provided by the families combined with the financial backing of the sponsors makes the dream of homeownership a reality. Once these homes are completed, families purchase these homes with a 20-year (up to 30-year) zero percent (0%) interest mortgage.

“We’ve been busy up and down 13th Street, and we’re thrilled to partner with our incredible aviation partners who are demonstrating the power of collaborative efforts to create a thriving and affordable housing community,” said Wichita Habitat executive director Danielle Johnson.

Aviation Industry Takes Flight for Affordable Housing

The Air Capital Build campaign exemplifies the Wichita aviation industry’s commitment to giving back to the community. Jennifer Utechtt, a representative from Textron Aviation, praised Wichita Habitat’s work: “We commend Wichita Habitat for providing crucial resources to families on their path to homeownership. We also thank the numerous organizations that will be contributing volunteer hours to build these homes and invest in our city’s future.”

Building Homes, Building Dreams

Wichita Habitat empowers up to 16 families each year to achieve the dream of homeownership. Aside from sweat equity and financial education classes from family partners, financial support and volunteer dedication from the community are essential to fulfill Wichita Habitat’s mission of “building homes, communities, and hope.” The Air Capital Build signifies a power of collaboration in creating a stronger, more vibrant Wichita for all residents.
