Bank of America Awards Grant and Builds a Home with Wichita Habitat for Humanity

Bank of America has announced a $15,000 grant to Wichita Habitat for Humanity, which will be used to support the construction of a new affordable home. This generous contribution is part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to providing safe and stable housing for families in the community.

Since 2020, Bank of America has donated a total of $137,500 to Wichita Habitat for Humanity. In addition to the financial support, Bank of America employees will be volunteering their time on October 4 and 5 to help with various tasks, such as painting, caulking, and cleaning, for the home they are co-sponsoring.

“We are grateful for Bank of America’s continued support of our mission to engage in affordable housing solutions in Sedgwick County,” said Danielle Johnson, executive director of Wichita Habitat for Humanity. “This grant will make a significant difference in the lives of a deserving family, helping us close the affordable housing gap that we have in our community, and building stronger communities.”

The home that Bank of America is helping over the two days will soon be purchased by Habitat family partner Nicole, who has been struggling to find a stable home for her children. With the help of Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program, Nicole is working towards owning her own home.

Cindy Walker, operations consultant and volunteer coordinator for Bank of America in Wichita, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “Bank of America is committed to being part of the Wichita community,” Walker said. “We recognize the need for affordable housing and are proud to support organizations like Wichita Habitat. That is why it is important that we get as many people involved in the community and work together. It just makes it a better place for our city.”

During Global Build Week, Bank of America employees across the country will be volunteering with many different Habitat affiliates to help build, repair, or renovate homes. This hands-on involvement demonstrates the bank’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of families in need.
