Other Opportunities
Lunch Crew
Members of the lunch crew are an incredibly important part of the building process and are greatly appreciated by our volunteers and construction staff. Members of the lunch crew provide food, beverages and paper products for approximately 20 volunteers on any scheduled build day. Providing lunch for one house (20 volunteers) is worth 10 hours of community service. Learn more by contacting Christine Moser at [email protected] or 316-269-0755 ext. 119.
Office Volunteer
Volunteers in the office assist with answering phones, data entry, filing, bulk mailing, etc.
Budget Coaches
These individuals draw on their experiences managing a household budget to help partner families set goals and work toward them. The position requires 1-4 hours/month of contact for 6-18 months (based on the needs of the partners). Contact [email protected] or call 316-269-0755 ext 103, to learn more. We also need coaches who speak Spanish and Vietnamese so please recommend this opportunity to your friends and colleagues.
Community Fundraising
Are you enthusiastic about spreading awareness of Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s work locally? Do you want to fundraise for more homes so more families can live in safe, affordable housing? Hosting a fundraiser is a fun and easy way to engage others from your religious groups, workplaces, schools, sports teams, families and social circles! All funds you raise go directly to our builds to give our partner families a hand up, not a hand out.
Special Events
Several Wichita Habitat special events take place throughout the year, such as our annual signature event, Raise the Roof. Volunteers often play very important roles in ensuring these events are successful and run smoothly.
Rapid Response/Disaster Relief
There are times when we need volunteers on short notice. We send these opportunities to interested individuals via email. Would you like to be on this list? Let us know!
Material Recovery
Occasionally Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore will be granted access to local remodeling projects to salvage usable building supplies, furniture and fixtures. Those salvaged building materials and supplies, like kitchen cabinets, countertops, appliances, windows and doors are sold to the public at the ReStore and proceeds help build and repair homes in our community. Volunteer days and times vary depending on need.
Engaging Youth
There are multiple non-construction volunteer opportunities for youth to support the mission of Wichita Habitat for Humanity. Hold a Rake-A-Thon where groups of volunteers go out into the Wichita Community and rake leaves for homeowners in exchange for the homeowner’s financial donation to Wichita Habitat for Humanity; host a Nickels for Nails and Dollars for Doors service-learning program that gives you the chance to make change, with change. It’s hard to believe, but even the smallest amount can make a difference. One nickel buys one nail. It takes about 5,520 nails or $276 to build one house; support our volunteers by writing Thank You Cards or making Volunteer Snack Bags; Design t-shirts to be used or sold at a Habitat event; or clean the house before new homeowners move in.
