Volunteer at the ReStore

getting started

first time volunteering?

If you are a first-time volunteer or returning to volunteer after a hiatus, please attend a ReStore Orientation before volunteering. Orientations are held at 4:30 p.m. every Thursday at the ReStore Wichita. After attending the sessions, you will be eligible to register and sign up for available shifts. Please make sure to review the requirements below.

Shifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

individual & group opportunities

Whether you're a people person, tech savvy, or a hands-on worker, there are many ways to volunteer with the ReStore Wichita! Work in the stores assisting customers or be behind the scenes stocking shelves, unloading donations, and creating displays—all opportunities fulfill the mission of Wichita Habitat for Humanity.

ReStore volunteer opportunities are:

  • Great for groups of smaller sizes!
Bring a family member, a friend, or even bring some of your favorite coworkers from your company/organization to build connections at the store that builds homes, communities, and hope.
  • Flexible times
Join us for just a morning or afternoon, stay for the day, or become a core volunteer when you make it a weekly commitment!
  • For everyone!
No experience is necessary. We'll provide the training you need to have a fun, productive day at the ReStore.

what are the requirements?

Volunteering at the ReStore Wichita means becoming a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Becoming a Habitat volunteer comes with great rewards and responsibilities. Volunteers are representatives of Habitat for Humanity and our mission. In addition to complying with all laws, regulations, and Habitat for Humanity policies, all volunteers are expected to follow Habitat's Volunteer Code of Conduct.

Details of our commitment to safeguarding can be found in our safeguarding policy, or you can view our safeguarding orientation video in English or with Spanish subtitles to learn more about what safeguarding is, how to recognize safeguarding violations and how to report them.

These instructions will be available prior to registering on VolunteerHub, our volunteer management platform. All volunteers must register on the platform and are required to fill out a release and a waiver of liability in order to volunteer. The platform will also be used to register for your volunteer shift, which will track your community service hours.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old or older. Come dressed in casual and comfortable clothing you can easily move in; however, please note some tasks may cause you to get dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required.
