About the ReStore

Used furniture offered for sale in a ReStore.

what is a ReStore?

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, building supplies, home goods and more to the public. The first Habitat for Humanity ReStore opened in Austin, Texas in 1992 as a means to sell donated building material that went unused at Habitat for Humanity construction sites. Since then, there have been more than 1,200 ReStores opened across the U.S. and Canada by Habitat affiliates (like Wichita Habitat for Humanity).

why choose ReStore?

Every new, nearly-new, and used item sold at a ReStore is sold at a fraction of the retail price, and proceeds from all sales at the ReStore fund Habitat for Humanity's work to create more safe, affordable homes in our community through building, preservation, and education. With your help, Habitat build homes, communities, and hope locally and around the world.

Additionally, when an item is donated to the ReStore and purchased by a customer, it is diverted from a landfill.

our local history

Wichita Habitat for Humanity's ReStore has been serving the community since its grand opening on October 18, 2003, at Towne West Square. Over the years, the ReStore has grown alongside its impact:

  • 2003 – ReStore Wichita opens its doors at Towne West Square.
  • 2007 – ReStore Wichita relocates to a larger space at the southwest corner of Harry and Hillside.
  • 2012 – To better serve the community, the ReStore Wichita moves to its current location at Plaza West Shopping Center.
  • 2018 – Recognizing the community's continued support, the ReStore expands its footprint within Plaza West, doubling its sales floor from 19,800 sqft. to 31,000 sqft.

This dedication to growth reflects our commitment to providing Wichitans and the surrounding community with high-quality, affordable building materials and home goods, all while supporting our mission of building and improving homes for local families.
