Connie Jason knew she wanted to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity after seeing Jimmy Carter work with them decades ago on TV. Jason started volunteering on the build sites in 2018, but due to a lack of building experience and not favoring the elements outside, she decided to find other ways to help.

So Jason began working at ReStore in 2019. She currently helps every Thursday at the discount home improvement store by cleaning their restrooms, breakroom, front entryway and taking out the trash.
“I just did what I had been doing all my life at my own home,” Jason said, “and I knew they were grateful for my contribution.”
Jason is motivated to stay involved because as a retiree, she knows how important it is to be around other people and stay active.
“It keeps the mind sharper and energizes the body,” Jason expressed. “When you start hearing how people appreciate your efforts, you begin to look for other ways to volunteer and keep a good thing going.”
ReStore is located at 601 N. West St. and is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Learn more here
