WICHITA, Kan. (July 9, 2018) – UMB Bank employees will kick off construction on a Wichita Habitat for Humanity home when they raise the walls alongside the future homeowner at 9 a.m. July 11 at 1247 N. Estelle St.
“We are deeply indebted to UMB leadership for providing a significant lead gift and engaging their business partners and customers so a family can build a better life,” said Ann Fox, Wichita Habitat for Humanity executive director. “By giving so generously, they ensure the opportunity of a zero percent interest mortgage and make homeownership affordable for a hardworking mother of three who will purchase the home. They have created a foundation for success that includes better health, education and employment opportunities.”
“Since our inception, UMB Bank has been committed to giving back to every community we serve,” said Chris Howell, president of UMB Bank Western Kansas and chair of the Wichita Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. “All of our associates participating in the wall raising event are very excited to support Habitat and this deserving family. Personally, I am thrilled to serve on the Wichita Habitat board as we continue to work together toward the goal of providing more affordable housing options in Wichita.”
UMB is the lead sponsor of the home that will be the 37th built in Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s Rock the Block neighborhood. Ametek, Cargill, Grit Virtual, Hampel Oil, Martin Pringle, JR Custom Metal and Star Lumber also are partners in this community build. The Rock the Block neighborhood is an initiative to improve the area bounded by Ninth to 13th streets and Hillside to Grove streets. The campaign began in 2014.
